Internet Marketing goes by many, many names, Affiliate Marketing, Online Marketing, E Marketing etc, but at the end of the day it all boils down to one thing. The marketing of products and services via the World Wide Web.

The number of ways you can exploit internet marketing to create an ongoing income, through building a business is almost inexhaustible You can take your pick from CPA (Click per Action), Email Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Social Networking, Bum Marketing, Blogging and on and on.

The advantages of starting your own internet marketing business are numerous.

Minimum Risk.
Minimum Inventory. You need not hold any stock. Few to no Employees.
No office space is required
You can start part time

There are however limitations to Internet Marketing.

Near to no knowledge of how to correctly set up and run such an endeavour.

The acquiring of customers. This comes down to traffic, but not just any old traffic. As a marketer you require targeted traffic that is ready to buy.

Tools of the trade. To knock a nail into hard wood you need a hammer, without it you may as well pack up.

Now the lists above we have kept short, but it’s enough to say that many people who have dreams of millionaire status by the end of the month, give up long before they even get out of the starting blocks. 95% to be more exact and that’s most probably being very generous.

But it is possible to make a very good living from your own computer. Just don’t get caught up in the hype of “earn a $1000 in the next 8 hrs”. For the vast majority of people it just doesn’t happen.

So what can you expect from Internet Marketing? Well this comes down to your approach ! As mentioned above it can cost near to nothing to get started and not impossible to make a pretty penny, but be realistic. How many millionaires or very wealthy individuals got to where they are with no form of investment?

This then leads to how you should invest in your Internet Marketing business. The vast majority of internet marketers (and these I am sorry to say are not making much) invest in separate tools or the latest “google bashing fandango system”, they subscribe to a million and one Guru email lists, with the hope that they will stumble upon the golden nugget of internet marketing. (There are some great list to be on however which we will be compiling and posting at some time in the future.)

So what are the guys who are making steady and ever increasing income’s doing. Nearly every single one, when they started out, associated themselves, with those who they wished to be like. These guys weren’t interested in the latest tools, whats the use of a tool if you don’t know how to successfully apply it? Successfully here is the operative word.

Think of it this way. I would love a yacht. Plain and simple, now would it be worth my while going out and using $100,000 of my savings to buy one. Well it would look nice in the harbour. Now the point is, I know it floats, I know it can take me up the river or out to sea. But what is the likely hood that I will crash or sink it on anyone of my first maiden voyages. A better course of action, would have been to find a mentor (and this is what the successful guys do), they learn the trade, they learn how to steer the boat and navigate the waters. They learn how to tell when there’s a rising tide and what course to take.

The tools are then simply items that make the job easier.
